Dear Cricket Official, For once, I make no
apology for leading on an exciting new product from Acumen. This
newsletter also highlights several postings on several umpiring
and scoring websites which show that matters are moving forward.
There are also several interesting conferences and seminars in the
next month or so. Acumen have been able to
source an electronic Tally Counter that fits on your finger. Nompere Discussion Board continues to be active Recent postings on the
Bulletin Board have included such diverse topics as Assessment of
Umpires, Results of GL5 and statistics on ECBOA
recruitment. ECBOA achieves 1,000 members. Frank Kemp tells me that ECBOA has now recruited over 1,000 members, is running 14 courses, and that there will be more announcements shortly. I have suggested he posts a message on the discussion board when it is released to save frequent fruitless visits. ACU&S Reports Since our last edition,
several postings have been made to the ACU&S website,
including a report on the recent General Council Meeting (on the
meetings page) and various items on the news page. In particular,
your attention is drawn to the questionnaire about clothing range
- your views will be welcomed. Other views There have also been a number of controversial postings on the Independent Cricket Officials website. Independent Cricket Offcials Fact pages At home and abroad Richard.Mernane[AT]zen.co.uk
tells me that Wimbledon Cricket Club will be hosting an Umpires¹
Roadshow, under the auspices of Croydon & District ACU&S,
at Church Road, SW19 5AG on Wednesday 14 March at 7.30pm. Do you need a laptop and/or projector? Acumen has recently had
very good service from ELF, which is a trade only supplier of
refurbished laptops, projectors, PCs, TVs etc/ They do require a
minimum order of £100 + VAT + typically £10
carriage. Acumen will be pleased to assist you in obtaining
something suitable. Please email
office[AT]acumenbooks.co.uk?subject=WantComputer Refurbished Computer Equipment. Secondhand booklist SteveSmith915[AT]btinternet.com has some 65 books he wishes to sell. Please download the list and contact him directly. APOLOGY From time to time, there
are problems on the internet and many of our newsletter emails
bounce. The system then removes these names from the database and
we have to reinstate them manually. Consequently, you may have
missed one or more issues. You can see the previous edition by
